DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SENTENCE AND PHRASE

 In our day to day life, we all use or come across certain words, sentences or may be phrases while we read, talk, communicate or listen to somebody. But how many of us actually know what is the difference between these words?  

Let's try to understand the difference between Sentence and Phrase by reading the following examples.

1. I like to swim. 
2. of low value

In example no. 1, we can clearly understand what this sentence means and infer meaning. 

On the other hand we cannot understand or derive any meaning from example no. 2.

Now can you guess why? 


What is a Sentence? 
The answer is the group of words which makes a complete and meaningful sense is called a Sentence.           

How to identify a Sentence? 
 Remember! Sentence always begins with a Capital letter and ends in full stop (.) or mark of exclamation (!) or interrogation(?).

Examples of Sentences: 
1. I live in Mumbai. 
2. Hurray! We won the competition. 
3. Wow! What a lovely dress. 
4. Do you like cycling? 


What is a Phrase? 
The answer is the group of words which makes an incomplete and meaningless sense is called a phrase. 

How to identify a Phrase? 
Unlike Sentences, Phrase do not begin with capital letter and does not have any full stop (.) , mark of interrogation (?)  or mark of exclamation (!) at their end. 

Examples of Phrase : 
 1. in the garden
2. gave a book 
3. went market

NOTICE WRITING

What is Notice Writing?  A notice is a written or printed announcement which is written in order to inform a large number of people about some events, functions or programs.  The announcement could be anything such as an upcoming event, competition, lost and found notice or just a simple information.  Notice is generally written in a formal tone and to the point. The language should be simple and formal.  Notices are put op on display boards in schools or in public places.  What is the Format of Notice Writing?  The format of notice consists of the following: 1.
