ADVERTISEMENT WRITING

What is an advertisement? 
It is a kind of public notice or announcement that you put in a newspaper, magazine television etc. asking for or offering services or buying and selling property, goods etc. Advertisement are also used for providing information about missing persons, pets, lost and found etc. 
 
Types of Advertisement-
There are two kinds of advertisement: 
(i) Classified Advertisement
(ii) Commercial Advertisement

What is Classified Advertisement? 
It is a small advertisement that you put up in a magazine or a newspaper simply because you want to sell something or buy something, to find a job or offer one. 

What is Commercial Advertisement? 
These advertisements are often branded and have more elements, designs in their ads such as T. V.  commercials, billboards, web banners and many more. These are costlier than classified advertisement. 

Important Features of Classified Advertisement :
(i) Classified advertisement does not include any blocks or designs and consists of factual
language. 
(ii) Advertisement should be simple, formal and to the point. 
(iii) It should be comprehensive and must not leave any important point. 
(iv) It should not be too lengthy. 

How to Write Classified Advertisement? 
Consider the given format to write classified advertisements:
(i) Clearly mention the category at the top. 
For example LOST AND FOUND, MISSING, TO LET etc. 
(ii) Provide all the necessary details. 
(iii) Provide Contact address, Name and telephone number. 
(iv) Put the advertisement in a box. 

Kinds of Classified Advertisement:
(i) ACCOMMODATION WANTED 
(ii) SITUATION VACANT/WANTED
(iii) MISSING PERSON
(iv) LOST AND FOUND 
(v) SALE AND PURCHASE
(vi) EDUCATIONAL
(vii) TUITIONS 
(viii) TO LET 
(ix) MATRIMONIALS (Bride Wanted /Groom Wanted) 
(x) AVAILABLE

Types of Advertisement:
i) SITUATION VACANT - It is usually written by an employee who is looking for the services of a person in his company, organization or an institute. 
(ii) SITUATION WANTED- It is written by a job seeker, someone who is in search of a job and is trying to find one. 
(iii) FOR SALE - It is written by someone who wants to sell property, assets office goods etc. 
(iv) TO LET - It is written by someone who is looking for tenants for his or her property. 
(v) ACCOMMODATION WANTED - It is written by people who are looking for accommodation. 
(vi) MATRIMONIALS- It is written by someone who is looking for bride/groom.
(vii) MISSING - It is written if in case any object, person, pet goes missing. Here you have to provide descriptive details. 

Important Note : When writing the Situation Vacant or Wanted advertisement you have to include the given points:
-> Begin with 'WANTED ' or 'REQUIRED'
-> Clearly write the name of the company or organization
-> Clearly mention the post and number of vacancies
-> State minimum qualifications and the required experience
-> Provide age, sex and preferential qualifications
->Clearly mention pay scale and perks
-> State the mode of applying 
-> End with contact details, address and telephone number

Now read the following examples :
Q. ADG school is looking for a receptionist. Write an advertisement in the classified column of the local newspaper in 50 words. 
 Answer- 
                  SITUATION VACANT 
Wanted a male receptionist for ADG school. The candidate should be a graduate, well mannered and fluent in English. Minimum experience- 2 years. Salary - negotiable. 
Last date for application - 10th February. Walk in interview with resume on 7th February from 10 am to 3 pm.

NOTICE WRITING

What is Notice Writing?  A notice is a written or printed announcement which is written in order to inform a large number of people about some events, functions or programs.  The announcement could be anything such as an upcoming event, competition, lost and found notice or just a simple information.  Notice is generally written in a formal tone and to the point. The language should be simple and formal.  Notices are put op on display boards in schools or in public places.  What is the Format of Notice Writing?  The format of notice consists of the following: 1.
