Answer :

'The Nightmare of Vehicles, Pollution and Traffic Jams'
           By Mahima

In the past few years, there has been a huge increase in the number of all sorts of vehicles in almost all big cities of the country. There is an alarming increase particularly in industrial and cosmopolitan cities. Most of these vehicles run on petrol or diesel and emit very harmful exhaust fumes. They not only pollute the air but also causes many breathing problems for the city- dwellers. And there is another aspect of this problem. The increase in the number of vehicles leads to frequent traffic jams by which valuable time and energy gets wasted for nothing. Indirectly, it causes a lot of stress and strain on the mind of the people using these vehicles. They feel disturbed not only physically but also mentally and emotionally. But they fail to realize that they themselves are responsible for such problems. There is no doubt that people are now much better off and their standard of living has gone up. They can afford to have costly vehicles, bikes ,cars and what not. We can't argue with people having cars and other vehicles for their use. But the problem arises when people begin to view with each other in having bikes and cars even when they really doesn't need to have them. Some people merely want to flaunt their riches. Despite having so many cars already they don't stop buying another one. Hence, pollution and traffic jams are such problems which each one of us feels and concerned about and yet none bothers to mitigate it. This attitude will have to be changed since all man-made problems can be solved by none other than man himself. For example : We can opt-in to walk or use cycle or bike instead of driving a car when  we go for a short distance or somewhere very nearby. We should plan accordingly so that we might not waste fuel as well.

Answer :

' Mobile Phones - A Boon or a Bane '

    By Kritika

Mobile phones have brought about a great revolution in the field of communication. If properly used, they are one of the biggest blessings of modern science and technology. Any place or person is only a number away from us because of mobile phones. We can get in touch with any person we like, wherever the person may be. We can even send an SMS if we do not get any response from the other end. Thus the mobile phone has really brought about a revolution in our lifestyle. But just like every coin has two sides, mobile phones can also be a blessing or curse depending on how judiciously we use it. It is in our own hands how we use this blessing. We can either make of it a boon or a bane. For instance, we often see people using their mobile phones while driving, cooking in the kitchen. It is very dangerous to do so because many serious accidents have already taken place in such situations. The government have also framed a law which prohibits the use of mobile phone while driving. But this law is more often violated and disobeyed. The mobile users themselves will have to realize the difficulties and dangers they cause not only to others but also to themselves. Those who break the law should be given a severe punishment so that they learn a lesson for their lifetime. Some teenager boys and girls also keep their mobile phones glued to their ears twenty four hours. They not only waste their time but also endanger their health. Parents should be vigilant and strict towards their children when they allow their children to use mobile phones. As recent researches have shown that mobile phones give out a radiation that causes cancer. So we must be very careful and judicious while using this great invention called mobile phone in our day to day life.

THE THIRTEENTH BULLET

THE THIRTEENTH BULLET    The mountainous countryside of Owari enjoyed a peaceful existence. The villagers felled trees and burned charcoal, which they would carry over the narrow trails to the nearest towns. Hunters were successful here, for there was plenty of game. As the days passed by, nothing ever happened that was worth the telling. Until suddenly everything changed, and not a single day went by without something happening to upset the whole village. At first, fowl began to go astray, then cattle began to disappear. Even worse the villagers themselves began to fear for their safety. Often those who were confident of knowing their way did not return home from the fields at nightfall. In the morning they were found with torn limbs and mauled faces. The villagers knew that some unknown beast was terrorizing the forest, so they went many times to track it down. They spread traps, but the beast was unusually clever. It was as though it knew exactly what the villagers were...
